Our team
Our genetics team is made up of caring and experienced individuals. They bring deep understanding from real-world experience and scientific research. Our doctors are highly trained, completing at least five years of specialist training after medical school.
They have deep knowledge in areas like general genetics, genetics during pregnancy, and neurogenetics (genetics related to the brain and nervous system).
How we help
A genetics counsellor will first see you and discuss your background and history. They will help you understand the role of genomics and explain any tests or information. After this, you will see our Clinical Geneticist, who is a medical doctor.
A doctor, like your GP, will refer you to us for a review about genetic information. We will then send suggestions for tests or more information to you, your referring doctor, and any other health professionals you choose.
We work with a team of trusted health professionals. We also have allied health clinicians who can help you with physical or cognitive (thinking) goals that might be part of some genetic conditions.
Seeing our Genetics team
You can see our genetics team in person at our clinic, or through video calls. We can work out what works best for you.
Our concierge service can help plan your appointments and schedule them around your needs. Our concierge can also help with complex paperwork if you are unwell.
Things to know about Genetics services at Alike
Comprehensive Reviews:
You will have a detailed review with a genetics counsellor and consultant Geneticist (a specialist doctor). This review helps in understanding your genetic information.
Referrals:
You will need a referral from your doctor once a year. You can still see our doctors without a referral but the fees may be higher. Please call or email us to discuss these fees beforehand.
