PRP: Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy
What is PRP Therapy?
Platelet Rich Plasma therapy, or PRP, involves using your own plasma to promote healing and recovery in your body. A sample of your blood is spun in a centrifuge to obtain a rich concentration of platelets and growth factors — the beneficial growth and repair cells your body uses to recover, heal and grow. This Platelet Rich Plasma is then injected into the target areas to promote healing and recovery.
PRP therapy is a non-surgical approach for managing arthritic or inflammatory problems in joints.
Dr. Liz uses an ultrasound to increase anatomical precision and then injects your own PRP into the joint. If steroid injections or local anaesthetic into joints is required, Dr Liz can also perform these procedures.
