Dr Ria Leonard is a medical practitioner with a passion for diversity inclusion and an interest in women’s & reproductive health spanning almost 40 years. Dr Leonard has worked as a Perinatal Psychiatrist for the past 16 years and consults on mental health in disability to the Murrumbidgee, Western & Far West regions of NSW.

Ria enjoys providing supervision and working in multi-disciplinary teams while constantly seeking to learn more about how people & communities can recover from mental ill health.

Dr Leonard is passionate about the role that song, dance, art and community connection play in recovery. One of her most notable achievements in this regard was leading a team of women to win the Infinite Song Competition at the National Folk Festival in 2022.

She is the grandchild of Italian migrants, grew up in a matriarchy & is the mother of 6 children.
